Day 10: More Miyajima!

Miyajima: My favourite place in Japan

The shoes were not dry in the morning, so after yet another weird breakfast of boiled egg, ham salad with ceasar dressing and jam on toast I had to nip to a shop to try and get Aaron some alternative shoes! There are plenty of shops but all souvenir type shops so I could only find a pair of rubber flip flops... which he hates wearing, but needs must!

First we went through Momiji park to Mt Misen. The park was beautiful and the cable car had amazing views, and then the views from the mountain top were in another league!

We climbed the final steep kilometre to the summit, wearing flip flops, and were constantly greeted with 'hello!' from school kids and 'konnichiwa' from Japanese climbers, it was a seriously friendly mountain!!! At the top there was another deer just roaming around, they are literally everywhere on that island.

We then went to the floating shrine which was exactly how you imagine from the pictures, and then got various foods with or without sticks from food stalls, and some ice creams in a weird friend bread cone. I got white peach and Aaron got black sesame but we had to swap as Aaron thought his was 'hoo-rrendous' hahaha.

Only got a bit mugged by the deer that day, and when a deer started stealing some pamphlets from an old man near us Aaron cannily swapped it a chip for the pamphlets, so I think we sort of got the hang of them in the end. Then it was a sad goodbye to Miyajima, and off to Hiroshima again to get Aaron some trainers before heading to Osaka (more bullet train!). We also picked up some little cakes shaped like maple leaves on our travels in that area and they were hands down the best snackage we found, delicious!

When we arrived in Osaka we pretty much just showered and went to bed and watched a random Japanese gameshow. Dinner was sushi and something random on a stick (turned out to be deep fried hotdog.. weird!) in bed.
